A total of 2,000 scholarships will be awarded to Croatian students living abroad for the upcoming academic year. Each scholarship will provide €175 per month for 10 months, totaling €1,750 per student.
The scholarships are primarily based on academic performance as well as the student’s social and financial background.
If all the scholarships are granted, the Croatian government will invest €3.5 million in this initiative.
Of the 2,000 scholarships, 300 are designated for students studying at universities in Croatia—200 for Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 60 for members of the Croatian ethnic minority, and 40 for members of the Croatian diaspora. The remaining 1,500 scholarships are allocated as follows: 1,500 for Croats attending university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 30 for students in Montenegro, five for those in Kosovo, 15 for ethnic Croats studying in North Macedonia, and 150 for students in Serbia.
This opportunity is open to students of Croatian descent who are enrolled in public universities in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, or Serbia.
In addition to significantly increasing the number of scholarships, the Croatian government has also raised the monthly amount from €150 to €175, compared to the previous year.
The 2023/2024 academic year marks a notable increase in scholarships awarded, with the number rising from 1,150 in the 2022/2023 academic year.
