According to a global survey conducted by the Gallup International Association and Intercampus, Portugal ranks as the fifth most dissatisfied country in the world when it comes to wages, despite more than half of workers expressing satisfaction with their jobs. The survey reveals that 64% of Portuguese respondents are content with their work, but when it comes to salary, 45% reported being dissatisfied, while 39% expressed satisfaction.
On a global scale, 65% of workers say they are satisfied with their jobs, and 47% are happy with their pay. The survey found that the highest job satisfaction rates are in Europe, the United States, Western Asia, and Latin America.
Kenya emerged as the country most dissatisfied with its employment situation, with 59% of respondents expressing unhappiness, followed by Nigeria at 36%. The main factors influencing these dissatisfaction levels were income and education.
The survey also revealed that concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) are widespread, with 38% of people globally expressing unease. More than 20% of respondents stated they did not feel adequately informed to assess the potential impact of AI on humanity.
Interestingly, younger people and those with higher education qualifications tended to be more optimistic about AI and its potential opportunities, while older and less educated generations expressed more concerns.
The survey, which interviewed 46,138 individuals across 45 countries, gathered a sample of 1,000 people per nation.
