A B1/B2 visa applicant recently shared their successful experience at the U.S. Consulate in Hyderabad, hoping to guide others planning travel to the United States. They applied in April 2025 and detailed each step of the process to help future applicants feel more prepared.
Their Visa Application Center (VAC) appointment was in early May. Although they arrived early, they found that being at the location about 45 minutes before the scheduled time would have been sufficient. The VAC is easily accessible, connected to the Next Galleria Mall by a skybridge, and offers lockers for storing personal items.
The consular interview took place in the last week of May. The applicant had a 9:45 AM slot but was allowed to enter when they arrived at 8:35 AM. During the interview, they were asked standard questions about the purpose of the visit, intended destination, and who would be covering the expenses. When asked whether they had any relatives in the U.S., they mentioned their brother and provided a copy of his visa, although they did not have his passport copy on hand.
At the end of the interview, the officer approved the visa and wished them a safe trip.
The applicant’s travel history, which includes visits to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the UK, may have positively influenced the outcome. They highlighted the importance of approaching the interview with confidence and being well-prepared, particularly when it comes to recalling information submitted in the DS-160 form.
With demand for B1/B2 visas rising in the post-pandemic period, experiences like this can provide helpful insight and reassurance to others preparing for the U.S. visa process in India.
