Italy has officially launched its “click day” system for 2025 on February 5, allowing Italian employers to submit applications for hiring foreign nationals to work in their companies. The Italian authorities have outlined that applications will be accepted on three separate days, based on the type of workers and the sector in which they will be employed, as reported by Schengen.News.
On February 5, applications were open for non-seasonal workers from countries that have bilateral agreements with Italy. The quota for this category in 2025 has been set at approximately 70,720 workers, reflecting the country’s need to address labor shortages across various sectors and regions.
On Friday, February 7, the application process will begin for seasonal and self-employed workers, including those in the social healthcare sector. This group will have a quota of around 730 permits for the year.
Finally, on February 12, the application window will open for seasonal workers in the agriculture and tourism industries, with an allocation of 110,000 permits for this group.
In total, Italy plans to grant residence and work permits to approximately 181,450 foreign workers in 2025. Most of the available quotas will be filled during the “click days,” but employers who still require workers can submit additional requests for workers not covered by the quotas. However, these additional requests will only be approved if deemed necessary and in line with Italy’s annual labor market regulations.
To increase their chances of being approved, employers are encouraged to submit all required documentation during the “click days.” Foreign workers applying for these positions must meet several criteria, including providing a valid passport, relevant educational or professional qualifications, a certificate of residence from their home country, and a signed employment contract from both the employer and the worker.
