A new tourist project valued at 1.7 billion euros has secured a hotel management agreement with Six Senses, a luxury hotel brand within the IHG Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
The hotel, named Six Senses Comporta, is expected to be completed in 2028 and will be the brand’s first project in Portugal featuring branded residences—homes operated according to the brand’s standards.
Located within the 400-hectare Pinheirinho Comporta development, the hotel will serve as one of the main anchors of the project. It will include 70 rooms and 58 branded residences, offering houses and apartments with two to five bedrooms.
João Cabaça, co-founder and CEO of VIC Properties, highlighted the shared commitment between the developer and Six Senses to restoring and preserving the region’s rich heritage. Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses, emphasized the brand’s focus on designing spaces that foster a connection with nature.
Pinheirinho Comporta, situated in the parish of Melides, spans approximately 400 hectares within a nature reserve. Of this, 200 hectares are covered by pine forests and protected dunes, while 20 hectares are designated for above-ground construction.
Acquired by VIC Properties in 2020, the project has since been redesigned to incorporate measures focused on sustainability and responsible development. Alongside two luxury hotels and branded residences, the development will feature villas, apartments, and an 18-hole golf course designed by Portuguese architect Santana da Silva.
Additional amenities include sports facilities, shops, services, and access to a beach club for guests and property owners.
During construction, the project is expected to generate over 2,000 direct jobs, with more than 1,000 permanent positions created upon completion.
