The operation focuses on “conducting inspections of commercial establishments and individuals to ensure compliance with national laws and regulations.”
A major crime prevention operation is underway in Lisbon, with the PSP (Public Security Police) surrounding the shopping center and Martim Moniz square. The focus of the operation is on tackling illegal immigration and human trafficking, with at least one person arrested for aiding illegal immigration, CNN Portugal has confirmed on-site.
The police are currently inspecting the shopping center, and Martim Moniz square has been sealed off as part of the operation.
In an official statement, the PSP confirmed that the operation is being carried out in collaboration with ASAE (Food and Economic Safety Authority), AT (Tax and Customs Authority), ACT (Authority for Working Conditions), and Social Security.
