Saudi Arabia Approves New Salary Scale for Engineering Professions
Riyadh – Saudi Arabia has officially approved a new salary structure for engineering jobs, set to take effect on Saturday, December 31. The announcement was made during a Cabinet meeting led by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday, December 17, in Riyadh.
The new salary scale is designed to create a more dynamic and appealing work environment, aligning with global best practices. According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD), the updated system specifically targets government employees working in engineering positions, categorized under the Saudi Standard Classification of Occupations.
This change applies to individuals holding bachelor’s degrees in engineering from both local and internationally recognized universities. The revised salary structure aims to shift engineers from the general employee pay scale to a more specialized professional path.
The new engineering salary scale will include several levels of progression, including roles such as:
- Engineer
- Associate Engineer
- Professional Engineer
- Consulting Engineer
This move is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to enhance the career development opportunities for engineers and ensure the competitiveness of the sector.
