The SNS Executive Board is advising individuals to contact the SNS 24 Line before heading to the emergency room. Today and on New Year’s Day, six emergency departments have been temporarily closed across various specialties, including Gynecology/Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and General Medicine, as per the National Health Service (SNS) Emergency Schedules.
Specifically, the Gynecology and Obstetrics departments at Hospital de Abrantes and Hospital Distrital das Caldas da Rainha are closed, while Hospital de Peniche has closed its General Emergency department. Additionally, emergency departments at hospitals in Cascais, Amadora-Sintra, Santa Maria, São Francisco Xavier in Lisbon, Beatriz Ângelo, Caldas da Rainha, Vila Franca de Xira, Braga, Leiria, and the Centro Materno Infantil do Norte will only be handling internal cases or those referred through the SNS 24 Line or by CODU/INEM.
Starting in January, the Setúbal Peninsula’s ULS, including Almada-Seixal, Arco Ribeirinho, and Setúbal, will also be part of this initiative.
