
In 2023, the average annual full-time salary for workers in the European Union increased by 6.5% year-on-year, reaching €37,900. Portugal ranked 18th, with an average salary of €22,933.
According to data from the EU statistical office, the highest adjusted average annual full-time salaries in 2023 were reported in Luxembourg (€81,100), followed by Denmark (€67,600) and Ireland (€58,700).
On the other end of the spectrum, Bulgaria (€13,500), Hungary (€16,900), and Greece (€17,000) had the lowest salaries. Portugal ranked 18th among the 27 EU Member States, with an adjusted average annual salary of €22,933, up from €21,131 in 2022.
