Saba Qamar, UNICEF Pakistan’s National Ambassador for Children’s Rights, recently held a meeting with German Consul General Dr. Rudiger Lotz to address important topics concerning children’s rights and environmental challenges in Pakistan.
The meeting highlighted the crucial role of involving young people in tackling these challenges.
Qamar stressed the importance of youth participation, saying, “Engaging the youth of this country is key to addressing children’s rights and environmental issues.”
Dr. Lotz reiterated Germany’s commitment to supporting children’s rights and commended Pakistan’s strides in this area. He also emphasized the worldwide importance of environmental concerns such as global warming, stating, “We all have a responsibility to help prevent it.”
A major topic of discussion during the meeting was the “Make Karachi Green” initiative, spearheaded by the German Consulate General in Karachi to promote tree planting and raise environmental awareness.
Consul Anja Klos informed Saba Qamar about the campaign, which focuses on educating schoolchildren about the significance of trees and the impact of climate change.
As part of the support for this initiative, Dr. Lotz provided tree seeds to Qamar and called on the people of Karachi to take part in the movement.
Germany has a history of backing UNICEF’s efforts in Pakistan, contributing to progress in child rights and environmental sustainability.
