Canada has launched a new Visa Application Tracker System for 2025, allowing applicants to follow the status of their immigration or visa applications online in real time. Developed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), this upgrade is now available to both recent applicants and those planning to apply.
The tracker covers a range of applications, including study permits, work permits, Express Entry, visitor visas, and family sponsorships. It offers a way to check application progress without relying on delayed email updates or contacting IRCC support. The system is designed to improve transparency and streamline the process for applicants at every stage.
Currently supported application types include sponsorship of a spouse, partner, or dependent child, Express Entry, study permits, work permits, and visitor visas. IRCC plans to expand the tracker’s functionality to include additional categories, such as permit extensions.
Applicants who have submitted their applications and received an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) by mail or email are eligible to use the system. A new tracker account must be created, even for those who previously used older status-check tools, as previous login credentials are not compatible with the new platform.
Eligible users for tracker account creation include principal applicants, sponsors, and authorized representatives. Once registered, users can log in at any time to view status updates, upcoming steps, and required documentation.
This system improves the overall application experience by providing real-time updates, reducing uncertainty, and offering better tools for planning relocation, travel, or housing. With more applicants accessing status information directly, the volume of inquiries to IRCC is expected to decrease, which could help reduce overall processing times.
