Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw provided an update on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, stating that 360 km of the corridor has been completed, with notable progress in Maharashtra. He also reviewed the Ahmedabad Railway Station Redevelopment Project.
Addressing past delays, Vaishnaw mentioned that permission issues during the previous administration had set the project back by two and a half years. However, efforts are underway to make up for the lost time, and construction is now progressing rapidly.
Significant advancements have been made in Maharashtra, including the completion of nearly 2 km of an undersea tunnel. The project is expected to enhance transportation between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, improving connectivity and contributing to economic growth in the region.
Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, also conducted an inspection of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project. He acknowledged the initiative’s impact on infrastructure development and employment, noting that the project has created opportunities for nearly one lakh workers. He highlighted the rapid pace of construction, citing the completion of 40-meter bridge spans within 16 hours.
Developed in collaboration with Japan, the Bullet Train project is designed to improve regional connectivity, stimulate economic activity, and create jobs. It will link key business centers, including Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, playing a crucial role in the development of Western India’s transport infrastructure.
With an approved budget of Rs 1,08,000 crore, this high-speed rail network is one of the country’s most ambitious railway projects, aligning with broader efforts to modernize India’s transportation system.
