The province of New Brunswick is offering a new opportunity for skilled workers, international graduates, entrepreneurs, and French-speaking professionals looking to move to Canada in 2025. As part of Canada’s evolving immigration strategy, New Brunswick has updated its economic immigration pathways to align with workforce needs and provide a smoother path to permanent residency. Starting February 5, 2025, the province will reopen its immigration streams, creating a promising route for foreign nationals eager to build a future in Atlantic Canada.
The Government of New Brunswick has refined its immigration programs to support Canada’s national immigration goals, focusing on addressing workforce shortages while streamlining the application process. These updates benefit skilled workers, recent graduates, entrepreneurs, and employers looking to hire international talent. To qualify, applicants must be fully prepared to submit their applications, meeting all eligibility requirements with the necessary documents in place.
One of the key pathways available is the New Brunswick Express Entry Stream, which connects directly with Canada’s federal Express Entry system. This stream offers faster processing, prioritizes candidates with work experience in high-demand sectors, and provides a clear route to permanent residency for skilled professionals.
For international students, the New Brunswick Private Career College Graduate Pilot Program offers a direct PR pathway for graduates from select one-year and two-year diploma programs. These programs are designed to align with priority fields such as education, healthcare, IT, cybersecurity, business administration, and supply chain management. The main advantage is that no prior work experience is required, allowing graduates in high-demand fields to secure permanent residency quickly.
French-speaking professionals can benefit from the New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream, which is tailored for Francophones who want to live and work in the province. This stream helps strengthen the bilingual workforce and provides strong community support for newcomers in sectors like education, healthcare, and technology.
The New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream is available to candidates with a valid job offer from a New Brunswick employer. Applicants must meet language, education, and experience requirements and demonstrate a commitment to settling in the province long-term.
For entrepreneurs and investors, the New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream provides an opportunity to establish or manage a business while securing permanent residency for themselves and their families. The province offers a thriving business environment with strong government support.
Employer-driven immigration programs are also reopening, including the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) and the New Brunswick Critical Worker Pilot. The AIP helps employers recruit skilled foreign workers and international graduates when local talent is unavailable, offering fast PR processing and access to exclusive job postings. The Critical Worker Pilot focuses on filling labor shortages in essential sectors, requiring candidates to be recruited by an eligible employer rather than applying directly.
To apply successfully, candidates must choose the appropriate immigration stream, meet eligibility criteria for age, language, education, and work experience, and prepare essential documents such as job offers, education credentials, language test scores, and proof of funds. Applications must be submitted through the Immigration New Brunswick portal and the Government of Canada’s PR system. Since the reopening is controlled with limited spots, early applications are strongly recommended to secure a place in the program.
