Namibia has introduced a new electronic visa (e-Visa) system, allowing travelers to apply online before arrival. This initiative aims to reduce waiting times and ease congestion at border points, ensuring a more efficient entry process.
Until March 31, 2025, citizens of France, Belgium, Canada, the UK, and the US are exempt from visa requirements. However, starting April 1, 2025, travelers from 33 countries will need to obtain an e-Visa, a visa from a Namibian diplomatic mission, or a visa on arrival. This policy is based on reciprocity, aligning with the visa requirements imposed on Namibian citizens by these nations.
Visitors from 90 countries and territories, including various African, European, Asian, and American nations, are eligible to apply for an e-Visa. The application process involves creating an account on Namibia’s official immigration portal, completing an online form with personal, passport, and travel details, and uploading required documents such as a passport photo and a scanned copy of the passport.
The e-Visa fee is set at 1,600 Namibian dollars (approximately 87 USD) for non-African applicants and 1,200 Namibian dollars (around 65 USD) for African nationals. Once approved, it grants multiple entries, with each stay valid for up to 30 days.
The e-Visa is accepted at 12 designated entry points, including Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport, Walvis Bay International Airport, and several land border posts with neighboring countries.
Upon arrival, travelers must present a valid passport, a printed copy of the approved e-Visa, proof of sufficient funds, accommodation details or an invitation letter, return or onward travel tickets, medical insurance, and, if traveling with children, a full birth certificate or parental consent letter.
