Swiggy announced its plan to transition to a fully electric vehicle (EV) delivery fleet by 2030 at an event in New Delhi. Currently partnering with 540,000 delivery personnel across India, the company has already integrated EVs into its operations for certain deliveries. Last year, it introduced an XL EV fleet to cater to bulk orders.
At the Swiggy Sustainability Summit 2025, the company introduced a collaboration with Sulabh International, allowing delivery partners in key cities to access Sulabh Shauchalya facilities free of charge by presenting their registration. This initiative aims to improve working conditions and support the well-being of its delivery workforce.
Swiggy also committed to assisting all its restaurant partners in transitioning to sustainable packaging solutions by 2030. Additionally, the company plans to reduce perishable waste in its direct operations by 25% annually through enhanced processes and automation in its supply chain.
As part of its sustainability efforts, Swiggy aims to ensure that all locally available harvests will be sourced indigenously by 2025. It also intends to expand participation in its value chain, engaging over one million individuals by 2030 through programs such as Swiggy Skills. The company has set a goal of empowering 100,000 women within its network, including entrepreneurs, delivery partners, and employees, by the end of the decade.
Following its market listing, Swiggy recognizes its increased responsibilities. The company emphasized its commitment to sustainable growth, inclusivity, and community empowerment. By leveraging technology and innovation, it aims to create scalable solutions that address both environmental and social challenges.
